I’ll disagree that non-acceptance is a problem. It shouldn’t be a big deal when someone comes out, or identifies with another gender. However, we make it a big deal (see young Miss Paige for example) and in the long run that hurts us, because it means that we have to make a big deal out of someone being different.
People will laud them for coming out, but that can hurt just as much. If it takes bravery to come out, does that mean the teenagers who are struggling with their sexuality aren’t brave? Instead, the response should just be okay, and that’s it.
We should be loving one another, and that means treating everyone as human beings, not elevating some, and putting others down.
(Sorry I kinda ranted there… The whole thing has been bugging me for awhile).
